Murattal home screen: six minutes left in today’s session, a 12-day streak and juz 2 of 30

How it works

  1. Lock screen: your apps are locked until today’s ten-minute session

    1. Your apps lock

Choose the apps that take your time and the hours they lock. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, whatever it is for you.

  2. Player showing Surah Al-Fatihah in Arabic with the English translation

    2. You listen

Today’s session is five, ten or fifteen minutes of recitation, with the translation alongside.

  3. Session complete: 12 days in a row, and apps open until tomorrow at 9 PM

    3. They open

Your apps stay open until the window resets. Every session moves your khatm date closer.

Questions

What if I need a locked app right now?

Tap Emergency unlock, choose a reason, and your apps open. That day doesn’t count towards your streak or khatm. Nothing else happens.

Can Murattal see what I do in my apps?

No. It uses Apple’s Screen Time to lock apps. It can’t see what you type, read your messages or capture your screen. App names and icons never leave your iPhone. The Privacy Policy has the details.

How long is a session?

Five, ten or fifteen minutes. You pick once, along with your reciter, and Murattal gives you the date of your first khatm before day one.

Will it send me a lot of notifications?

One reminder a day, at the time you choose: after Fajr, mid-morning, after Maghrib or after Isha. Nothing else.

Where do the text and recitations come from?

The Qur’an text, translation and recitations are provided through the Quran Foundation (Quran.com).

Which phones does it work on?

iPhone, on iOS 17 or later.

For everyone who has restarted Al-Baqarah more times than they can count.

Ten minutes. Every day. That’s all it asks.
